Our New Magdalen Road Gym is Opening Soon!

The Cat’s Out of the Bag!

We’re so excited to have announced our new Magdalen Road Gym in Oxford!  We’ve been sitting on this exciting news for several months, and we can’t tell you how hard it was to keep this secret!  However, with any big announcement like this, we know you probably have some questions, the main ones being ‘Why?’ and ‘What is it?’.  Our Movement Studio is really popular, so why do we need a new gym?  What’s it going to look like?

Our new site is going to be located at 9 Newtec Place, Magdalen Road and open 6 AM-8 PM Monday to Thursday, 7 AM-7 PM Friday, and 8 AM-2 PM Saturday. We will have two main rooms - a Strength and a Cardio room. The Strength room will have several squat racks, benches, and an array of dumbells, kettlebells and bands - everything you need to get stronger!  The cardio room will consist of various cardio equipment like assault bikes and SkiErg’s, slam balls, battle ropes, heavy bags and boxing gear, and we’ll run our Cardio, Boxfit and Mobility + Core classes from here.  We will also be offering various kids classes - our popular Young Heroes self-defence course aimed at 5-10-year-olds, a Sports Stars program for 8-12-year-olds to teach them about speed, agility, and help them fall in love with movement, and a Youth Gym course for 12-15-year-olds, teaching them the basics of lifting.  All of these will be 5 weeks long, and you will receive 50% off of your first booking.  The gym will also have that most important amenity – showers, changing rooms and a place to chill after a great session!  We’re still working on making our vision for the gym a reality, but you can view a video on our website which gives a good idea about how awesome the new place will look!

The main reason we’re opening a new gym is to offer a different experience, with more class-based training and coaching.  The Movement Studio will still be running group PT, with expert feedback from our coaches - our new site will still have the same calibre of professional, friendly coaching, just with a bigger place, more access to equipment, and bigger class sizes!  It’s our hope that with our new classes having a maximum of 10 people, you will still feel that you’re getting some individual feedback and attention, but also have the freedom to socialise, make friends and experience the fantastic atmosphere.

The second reason we decided to open a bigger site is to further facilitate our youth work.  If you’re one of our members, you probably know that we put a lot of emphasis on our social outreach - it’s the core of our business.  We run multiple youth courses for vulnerable people all around Oxford, and we’re really proud of the work we’ve done and the opportunities we’ve given. Our new site will provide more qualifications, work experience opportunities and just a place for our youth to feel comfortable.  It’s our hope that with a bigger site, with more equipment, coaches and space, we can help more children and young adults achieve their potential through fitness and movement.

We’re so excited to have you come with us on this next phase of our journey together.

About The Project PT Oxford Personal Trainers

The Project PT uses fitness to empower people. Through our Oxford Personal Training Studio, we use 4 pathways to achieve our mission. Our first pathway started in August 2019 creating accessible and fun fitness events in unusual settings, making fitness enjoyable for all. Our second pathway offers free fitness classes for young children, helping them to build a positive relationship with exercise and sport. The 3rd pathway comes in the form of our Movement Studio, a nature-inspired space teaching people how to move their body's in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Our 4th pathway is still in the development stages, Youth Lift will engage with young people on the periphery of being excluded from school. Using the medium of lifting weights empowers them to make other positive changes in their lives.
